The Mocking Bird

The Mocking Bird is the new project from acclaimed singer songwriter Bob Kemmis. The new moniker isn’t the only change for the Vancouver-based musician. The thirteen new songs on No Good Deed Goes Unpunished exhibit a new, rockier urgency in stark contrast to the low-key studio albums Kemmis has previously released under his own name. According to Kemmis, this has as much to do with his own life experiences as it does the players who bring his songs to crackling life. These players include old friends Doug Elliott, Pat Steward and Craig Northey from Odds, keyboard ace Simon Kendall, roots guitar wizard Steve Dawson, Spirit of the West's Geoff Kelly along with stadium rock greats Mickey Curry and Keith Scott.

Growing up in the Southern U.S., TightMike credits a few things as the end-all, most influential factors in his music… 808 drums, deathly hot summers, DJ Screw tapes, and his grandma's home cooking. The music is just as much an homage to the music of the south, as it is a cultural study on rhythms and musical subcultures of the world. Fascinated with creating a balance between these two worlds, but always maintaining a universally smooth vibe.
Beyond Just his production and remixing, Mike brings a live set that challenges traditional DJing. Actually live remixing rap vocals , and re-purposing r&b vocals as instruments, but never losing sight of the dancefloor.

"The River and The Road" are currently based out of East Vancouver and play Folk/Americana music. They are comprised of Banjo player Keenan Lawlor and Guitarist Andrew Phelan. While both not Vancouver locals, the duo has been tirelessly working for the past 6 months to make it feel like home, and the response has been outstanding. With large crowd turnouts and a young, dedicated fan base, Vancouver is starting to notice the boys tenacity and D.I.Y work ethic.
