The Joint Chiefs of Math is an independent rock band from Vancouver, British Colombia. Formed in early 2009, JCOM is composed of graduates from Capilano College and Vancouver Community College's prestigious music programs, and liberal arts students at UBC. Each member has played in a variety of punk, ska, jazz, rock, and folk bands throughout the Lower Mainland prior to the band's formation. Over the past year, the band has composed a set of simple and sophisticated rock and roll songs, reminiscent of Neil Young, Wilco, and Big Star. A typical JCOM set oscillates between full, fuzzy, guitar rock & roll, and polyphonic pop music, featuring three-part harmonies, sweeping keys and infectious pop hooks. JCOM has worked to keep its lyrics relevant and quirky, whether singing about the pitfalls of fiscal conservatism, the Kennedy assassination, or falling in and out of love.

These songs are the foundation of JCOM's forthcoming, eponymously-titled album, which will be recorded at the Warehouse Studios in July 2010. This album is the subsequent release to the "The Sister Swim EP," which was also recorded at the Warehouse in 2009. Although JCOM is a relatively young act, the band has already performed a number of very successful shows around Vancouver, all of which have had stellar turnouts. The group is honored that there is a growing demand for its music and that it has already begun to generate buzz amongst Vancouver rock fans. The Joint Chiefs of Math look forward to hearing from you sometime soon!
